Our Story Condensed – “How the Chicago Men’s Center Came to Be”

  • Up to 2018 were the “Fulton Market Years”. Chicago MKP owned a facility that was a community home and a very busy center for men’s development work.
  • 2018, MKP Chicago merged with MKP USA, and formed the Chicago Men’s Center, Inc (CMC) to hold the facility property independent from MKP USA.
  • 2021, pandemic pressures led to sale of the center property and retiring its mortgage.  With this sale CMC focus shifted to fund stewardship.  Or in the other words, “Stewarding” the proceeds of the property sale.
  • 2022 to today, CMC continues to steward capital generated by the facility sale and provides scholarships, operations support, and outreach that brings new men into circles for the Chicago MKP community.

Donate

CMC created a single, easy donation link: CMC Donations. The form includes drop-down options so you can direct your gift to what matters most to you. You can support a specific NWTA, underwrite new Facebook ads that bring men into Open Men’s Groups and then toward an NWTA, or make a general donation. Every dollar supports the MKP Chicago community.

Invitation to individuals and I-Groups. Please consider giving at a level that fits your situation. One example, the I-Group A Brotherhood of Kings chose to give twenty-five dollars per day for seven days to fund the new Facebook ads. Choose the option that matches your heart and your means.

FAQ

Rather than offering direct programming ourselves, we:

Is the Chicago Men’s Center part of MKP USA?

The Chicago Men’s Center (CMC) was created by MKP Chicago as a separate nonprofit to steward local assets and support the MKP Chicago community.

Why was the Fulton Market building sold?

The pandemic caused major loss of rental income. The community decided to sell in 2021, paid off the mortgage, and moved proceeds into conservative investments.

How are CMC funds invested?

Funds are invested conservatively across market instruments and CDs to protect principal, fund scholarships and program needs, and work toward a future community home.

Can I earmark my donation?

Yes. You can designate gifts for NWTA Scholarships, Facebook outreach that brings men into Open Men’s Groups, or General Support. Use the dropdown on the donation page or note your preference.

How can I see the financials?
